With reference to the news that has appeared today in the press, Safilo S.p.a. would like to clarify the following:

Safilo S.p.a. has the utmost faith in the work of the judicial Authorities regarding the investigation that is underway concerning some of the production phases of certain eyewear models. The acquisition of documents by the Guardia di Finanza was solely standard procedure, which will also serve to strengthen the position of Safilo itself.

Safilo S.p.a., however, is disappointed to observe that actions covered by pre-trial confidentiality have been made public, in open violation of the current regulations, and unjustifiably discrediting a company that is of prime importance in the Italian economic scene.

The company intends, therefore, to undertake every suitable initiative before the competent judicial authorities in order to protect the honour and reputation of the company and its Chairman, Mr. Vittorio Tabacchi.
